Your Pets Diet

There are many different types of diets available for your pets. These vary from high quality veterinary products, to supermarkat brands to home made meals.

We always recommend the high grade veterinary products. These food represent the best in nutrition, value for money and balance.

Puppies

Puppies rely on their mothers milk for the first 3 - 4 weeks of life, then they start trying solid food. Solid food for your puppy should be palatable, easily digested, be of high quality and be nutritionally balanced for puppies. Adult food is not suitable for pups as a lone diet as it doesnt contain the correct balance of nutrients for the rapidly growing puppy.

Depending on your pups breed, age and individual charactersitics, we recommend dividing their daily food allowance into 4 evenly divided meals until they are around 4 months old. This can be reduced to 3 meals at around 6 months of age and then 2 meals a day at maturity.

After leaving their mother and moving into their new home or after changing diet, diarrhoea or an upset stomach may occur. If this persist for more than 24 hrs, then give us a call or book in for a visit.We stock and recommend the Advance brand of puppy food . It is available in biscuits, a rehydratable formula, cans and also a formulation designed for large breeds of dog.
